Part III: Inside the Temple of Set
The temple was an awesome sight. The statue of the cobra stood
of us and seemed to make a mockery of us mortals. Blurrking chuckled
at it and said, 'What have we to fear from this little snake?' I
had the feeling he was dead wrong.....
We proceeded north, perhaps too far north. Serpentor reared up
and hissed. He drew his Sword of Set and grinned evilly at us. The
shiny glint off his chest indicated that he wore his plates of Set.
We slowly backed off from Serpentor as we did not want to have any
confrontation with Serpentor.
We backtracked a few steps and soon found the stairway underground.
In a hurry, we rushed down the stairs, perhaps in too much of a
rush. A most grotesque woman with snakes for hair and a snake-like
torso greeted us at the bottom of the stairs. A medusa.
The medusa hardly hesitated before attacking. We shielded our
eyes from her to prevent ourselves from being petrified. Blurrking
shouted a battlecry, and jumped at the medusa with his Flame-Tongue.
I drew my own Sword of the Sun and lunged for the medusa.
It was a tough fight. The medusa was stronger than we had expected.
Blurrking was beginning to tire out and Curmudgean, without his
equipment, could not last. I had to do something fast. Summoning
my energy, I focussed raw psychic energy into a bolt of pure energy
and launched it at the medusa. The bolt ripped through the medusa's
chest. The medusa looked down at what was her chest and groaned.
She collapsed into a heap of blood and ichor. Panting with exhaustion,
we regrouped.
