Normal Races (N)
These are the most common inhabitants of HOTL3. Some may be restricted to good, neutral or evil alignments only, so you will not be able to choose them if you are not of the right alignment (during character creation, the choice of alignment precedes the choice of race). Some races are also restricted to male or female only.

Fun Races (F)
Created during a fit of frivolity (or perhaps folly, who knows), fun races are, for the large part, ornamental and, well, for fun. They are usually small and weak but cute and fun to play.

Special Races (S)
Boasting superior attributes and genes, special races are the the most powerful races of HOTL3. As such, they are very rare. Only one of each race can be born (ie. created) every eight years or so. The Irda are the rarest of all. It has long been rumoured that the emergence of special races depends on the moons' alignment.

Genes
Genes are special biological abilities, such as extra attacks from body parts, or natural abilities in skills, that certain races have. Some genes may be lost or diluted upon fusions.

Come away, O human child!
to the waters and the wild
with a faery, hand in hand,
for the world's more full of weeping
than you can understand...
-- W. B. Yeats
