Part II: The Prophecy
What is Unbeing, you may ask. What is so disastrous about the triumph
of Good? I do not have much time to explain the arcane details of
Unbeingness. Suffice to say, the world as we know, or knew it, would
cease to exist, as a surfeit of Light and Good energy enters the
world. The fabric of our universe cannot contain such a vast amount
of pure goodness, hence the Balance of Gilean. Neither can Evil
dominate. The Balance MUST be maintained. I for one would not have
objected to Evil dominating and to the Abyss with good, darksouled
as I am, but a chance was a chance. Its was either back to the Balance,
or die, and see free will die with me. I am no hero. I just wanted
to survive.
And so when Lord Gilean offered the chance, I had to grab it.
The chance, a slim one, lay in the ironic creation of the Good Gods'
gift to the Heroes. The Key of Hope, an artifact of such power that
even the creators could not destroy it. It was broken into 4 parts
and hidden in four places of great goodness. Lord Gilean then spoke
a spell of prophecy, ingraining it in my mind, so I would never
forget. The weight of the world rested on my shoulders then, and
damn, was it heavy
'The first of hope
In honour it lay
Life is secondary
Only death shall pay
The next key lies
In a city of gold
Only stealth as such
Could outwit a drake as bold
The third despair
On the Pantheon's peak
Where good dost lair
But evil may seek
The last alas!
Impossible it seems
For at the Gates of Evil
Only love will redeem.'
This was the prophecy Lord Gilean gave unto me. And so started
an attempt, by Evil, to save the world.
