Policies for Players

Player Harassment
We strive to maintain a MUD environment free (as possible) from all forms of harassment. We insist that all users of the MUD, players and immortals alike, be treated with dignity, respect and courtesy. It is therefore obvious that any comments or conduct relating to a person's race, religion, age, or ethnic background which fail to respect the dignity and feeling of the individual are unacceptable. It should be equally obvious that this policy extends to comments or conduct of a sexual nature, where such behaviour tends to threaten or offend a fellow player.

Sexual Harassment
Any behaviour toward any player by a immortal or co-player which constitutes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favours, or the physical or electronic display of derogatory images, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature will be considered to be sexual harassment when:

  • Submission to such conduct is made a condition of an individual's 'existence'
  • Submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for 'existence' decisions affecting such individual
  • Such conduct has the purpose or effect of interfering with an individual's interactions or creating an unfriendly or offensive MUD environment

Although there is no absolute definition of conduct which constitutes sexual harassment in every case, we ask that everyone conducts themselves reasonably in accordance with the preceding guidelines. We won't tolerate any conduct which fails to comply with the letter and spirit of these guidelines.

Security
We highly discourage players from sharing accounts and passwords. However, we hope players will provide truthful information in their email address so that we can validate it in case of any illegal intrusion into the system.

Players are advised to exercise caution when revealing personal information to others while playing this MUD. It is entirely your responsibility to use good judgement when you are interacting with a name, a virtual existence, or someone whom you have not seen before and all you have are just words in front of your screen.

Cheating
Cheating is severely frowned upon as it gives you an unfair advantage over others. This includes multiple logins, helping your own characters in any way, getting immortals to cheat for you (free stuff, transfers to mobs, softening mobs, editing of pfile, etc) and exploiting bugs.

If you're caught, be prepared to pay the price. If you find a bug, report it. We will not hold you responsible for it as it is no one's fault but ours. But if you exploit the bug without telling us, punishment will be due.

Email Addresses
The only chance you have to enter your email address is during character creation. It is entirely understandable if you change your email address along the way, so you may approach any implementor in the game or through notes to have it updated. If you don't have an email address to begin with, we will not entertain your requests to add it in. Additionally, players without email addresses will not receive any help of any kind from any immortal. There are restrictions on leveling (for special races) and fusing if you don't have a valid email address.

Player Files
Provided the character has a valid email and appropriate proof, there are only two conditions under which a player file can be CONSIDERED for restoration:

  • if the pfile has become corrupted because of a system crash
  • if the character has been the target of malicious hacking and subsequent deletion

Apart from these situations, there will be no restoration whatsoever. There is no such thing as 'accidental deletion' as you are given ample warning before the command is executed.

A note: We do not change names for you. You choose your own names and live with that choice.

Miscellaneous Administration
No vulgar/sexist names allowed. Such characters will be asked to delete themselves or be terminated on sight.

Player files will be deleted if inactive for 90 days.

Immortals are not expected to do corpse retrievals. If it is done, you pay a fee. Currently, the default fee is 10% of your gold or 1% of your clan's karma.

There is no reimbursement for anyone for any losses due to changes and tuning made. Live with the fact that this MUD is always developing and the only constant thing is change.

Do not ask for restore, rewar or spell up. In the event of mega quests, the giving of such blessings is up to the discretion of the immortal.
