1. My inventory list is way too long - there must be a more efficient way to manage it?

Are you in pack mode? If not, type 'config pack', which will allow you to see multiple items in one line. If the list is still too long, it's about time you got a container to keep your things in. Croben from Solace sells the ever-popular rings of holding.

2. Where can I get something to drink?

There's a fountain at the Midgaard Temple Square, which is operated by the old man. Give him a gold piece and he'll let you drink or fill you water skin with water. If you really want to deny the old man his only source of income, there are free water fountains at the end of Penny Lane in Midgaard and New Thalos' Market Square.

3. Is there any difference between drinking water and drinking milk?
Different drinks have different hunger values. Milk fills you up eight times more than water can, and thus may ease your hunger as well as your thirst.

4. Will anything happen to me if I ignore the hunger and thirst messages?
You might die of hunger, so never ignore your rumbling belly. Shops selling food are aplenty - just check out the marketplaces in the major towns and cities.

5. Will anything happen to me if I get drunk?
You'll be too stoned to find your mouth when you want to drink or eat.

6. How do I buy a particular item when there are several of them with the same name on sale?
If there are 4 swords on sale and you want to buy the third one, you type 'buy 3.sword'. This method also applies to items you want to use - in your inventory, on the floor, in a container, etc.

7. Do shopowners buy things from players?
Yes, though not all do. And some shopowners only buy certain items, such as those similar to what they're selling. Also beware of shopowners who pay only a fraction of your item's actual worth.

8. How do I buy something on auction?
Lots of useful stuff gets auctioned now and then. Just type 'help auction' in the game to find out how to use the commands.

9. Why are the city gates always locked when I need to get out?

The gates of Midgaard are locked every night at by the Mayor, and unlocked in the morning. Try to schedule the time you spend in town more carefully so that you won't get trapped an entire night just because you wanted to deposit some money. If you have the pass door spell, you won't be constrained by Midgaard city gates.

Rumours have it that a special night pass is your ticket out of the city, and that some gate guards can even be bribed. It might be worth a shot if you have plenty of gold to burn. Thieves can also pick the north gate...
