Fire
If what you want is raw damage, fire is for you. This plane of magic forgoes any versatility whatever for sheer power.

Notable spells:
1) Fireshield - reflects a portion of your damage taken back to your enemy
2) Rains of fire - The higher the expertise level, the higher the chance of more hits

Lightning
Two words sum up this plane of magic. Ball. Lightning. (to a lesser extent, chain lightning). Ball lightning has the property of ‘bouncing’ from mob to mob multiple times before fizzling out. Chain lightning is a lower level, weaker version of ball lightning.

Notable spells:
1) Ball (chain) lightning - self explanatory
2) Affected by weather - if the weather is stormy, another bolt of lightning may strike the enemy whenever you cast a lightning spell.

Earth
All offensive earth spells besides two (boulder, comet strike) are area target spells. They all have a chance of stunning the target, rendering them incapable of attacking until the next tick.

Notable spells:
1) Earthshield - greatly increases your physical resistance
2) Comet strike - high damage single target spell

Poison
Poison is all about debilitating the enemy. Poison spells can cause the victim to suffer poison, disease or plague, which hinders their regenerative ability.

Notable spells:
1) Acid corpse - cast on a corpse to restore some of your mana
2) Clouds of death - chance of causing instant death
