Weapons
A warrior has many a weapon to choose from, while thieves and spellcasters
usually favour lighter and less cumbersome weapons. Large weapons,
being unwieldy, will create a longer delay between the blows you
rain on the enemy. On the other hand, you can hit more often if
you use a small weapon, such as a dagger or a dart. The tradeoff
is that smaller weapons have a lower damage threshold than the larger
ones, and thus inflict much less damage on mobs.
A weapon has several attributes:
Damage
Damage type
Damage message
Special attributes |
A measure of how much damage the
weapon inflicts (the higher the better)
The type of damage inflicted (none indicates normal damage,
fire / water / earth / etc indicates special damage)
The message which appears when you strike your opponent with
the weapon (eg slash, pierce, freezing strike, etc)
Certain weapons may offer additional hitroll / damroll / statistical
bonuses, eg a sword with +2hr +4dr +2str. |
Listed below are the main weapon types known to this realm:
Take note that if you only have two hands, you may not wield a
two-handed weapon and use a shield at the same time. In addition,
there is the HAND TO HAND skill, which essentially refers to unarmed
combat.

Polearms are deadly, edged weapons that consist of a metal
head mounted on a 4 to 6 foot long wooden or metal shaft and
are wielded with two hands. Due to their length, they often

to those fighting from the rear of a group.

Many commonplace objects can actually be used as weapons,
and do not fall into any of the usual weapon categories. As
such they are classified 'unique'. For example, a huge, heavy
boulder may be used as a weapon since you can hurl it at your
opponent and hurt him.
